Installing the Visual Basic Upgrade Companion License file

VBUC requires a separate license to work, whether you are using the trial version or a paid version. In this guide you will find the step-by-step instructions to register a new Mobilize’s Visual Basic Upgrade Companion License file for your VBUC installation:

Note: You should get a trial license file on your email when you first register to download the VBUC. If you need a new VBUC license file please contact us via our support form or send an email to info(at) or via the website chat for more help. Please check your spam folder if you don't get the file after 5 minutes.

Also, if you have previously downloaded a trial license the system will not generate a new one. Contact us so we can generate one for you.

The VBUC License registration wizard will start automatically the first time you run the VBUC on your system. At any time, you can also start the License registration wizard manually by doing one of the following steps:

    • Click on “No valid license installed” section on the VBUC. This is located on the bottom right hand-side corner of the VBUC interface as shown below:

    • As an alternative to the previous step, click on the VBUC Tools tab and then “License Registration”.

    • The License Wizard lets you browse to a license file or download a license:

If your license file was received as an email attachment (VBUC.lic), click "Browse for existing file" and locate the file you received.

If you prefer, you can click "Download license" and enter the email address you used to sign up for the trial. Your license will download and install automatically (requires Internet connection).

      License activation

If you click "Run assessment only..." the VBUC will allow the creation of a migration solution, edit migration profiles, solve migration warnings and run code analysis but it will not allow the migration of your Visual Basic 6.0 code.
